a)  Flexi-Blade Technology

Vertex fins do not have flat blades. Instead the blade curves up or away from the bottom of your foot to provide more resistance on the power or downward phase of the kick. The rebound of the blade during the recovery phase helps bring the legs higher in the water, raising the lower body to the surface in the desirable high-in-the-water position, where you encounter less drag and can swim faster and more efficiently.

b)  Improved Blade Design

Have you seen a fast-swimming fish with a blunt or squared-off tail? Neither had we. Thats why we patterned our fins after the lunate caudal fin or crescent-shaped of fish tails that more efficiently channel the water. The crescent shaped tail with a narrow and broad base that acts as a hydrofoil (lifting up), so that drag is minimal. This allows the swimmer to easily achieve the high in the water race position to improve stroke and breathing technique.  

c)  Advanced Material

The foot pocket, which is made of 100% natural rubber, has a durometer hardness of 45 ± Shore Å. It has a good grip on the foot and reduces significantly the occurrence of foot grazing the inner surface of the foot pocket (reduces blistering). 

The blade has a durometer hardness of 78 ± Shore Å. The compound is specially formulated to provide optimum resistance and propulsion required to aid swimmers who are building their leg muscles for better performance in swimming.

Both compounds are designed to have advanced recovery, tensile and elasticity properties. These are essential to improve the durability of the fin and retain its original shape. 

d)  Improved Foot Pocket Design

Unlike all other fins, even those with open toe boxes, only Vertex fins are designed to concentrate the force of the blade further back on the foot, using the muscles of the whole leg, not just the lower leg.

e) Increased Blade Surface Area

The extra load from the increased surface area that Vertex fins provide, swimming or kicking with Vertex fins forces ankle extension during the power phase (pushing down when swimming freestyle) of the kick. Repeated use of the Vertex fins eventually stretches the ankles, increasing their flexibility for moving in all directions and helping the kick become more propulsive and efficient.
